Funeral services were held Sunday, January 26, for W.P. Marshall, 73, pioneer Dickens County resident. Death occurred at the home of a son, Pearl Lee Marshall, of Matador, where Mr. Marshall had been visiting when he became seriously ill, passing away on his 73rd birthday anniversary. Mr. Marshall had been in declining health for some time.
Services were held at Dickens, Texas, Minister Simmons of the Dickens Church of Christ, officiating. Interment followed in the Dickens Cemetery with Curry Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
W.P. Marshall was born January 25, 1868 in Caldwell, Texas, where he was affiliated with the Church of Christ at an early age.
He was married to Miss Lena Elizabeth Holly, January 12, 1898 in Eastland County.
Mr. And Mrs. Marshall moved to Dickens County where they established a home and reared their family. They have resided in Dickens County for 42 years.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lena Marshall, and eight children, P.L. Marshall, Matador; Ben Marshall of California; Mrs. Eva Baker, Arizona; Mrs. Winnie Gaylor, Granger, Texas; Mrs. Treva Lewis, Fort Worth; Mrs. Vest Fincher, Girard; Cloy Marshall, Spur and Jim Marshall, Pampa; one half-brother, Rue Sargeant, Lea Lake; eleven grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
All children were present at the funeral except Ben Marshall, of California, who was unable to get here in time.
Pallbearers were George Sloan, A. McClanahan, Harvey Holly, Hugh Higgins, Jay Austin and Albert Jordan.
Flower bearers were : Ruby Dell Overstreet, Helen Sargeant, Wanda Cox, Creola McClanahan, Pauline Higins, and Velma Ballio.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Marshall were held Sunday, June 27, at the Spur Church of Christ. J. L. Prichard of Artesia, NM, officiated.
Mrs. Marshall was born February 7, 1881 in Young county, Texas. She moved to Dickens County in 1900. On January 12, 1898 she married W. P. Marshall in Eastland county.
She died Saturday, June 26.
Survivors are seven children, P.I. Marshall, Ben A. Marshall, Eva Baker, Treva Warren, Dorothy Hinton, Winnie Barton and Vesta Wages; three brothers, Watt Holley, Hallett Holley and Tommie Holley; two sisters, Mrs. O.C.Overstreett and Mrs. Gertie Kretchmer; 16 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Bennie Darl Marshal, Billy Marion Marshall, Buddy Mane, Charles Clark, Henry English and A. W. Marshall.
Interment was in the Dickens cemetery under the direction of Campbell´s Funeral Chapel.
