Robert Charles Littlefield was born in Paint Rock, Concho County, Texas on September 15, 1896. His civilian occupation was a farmer and store clerk. His residence included places of Paint Rock, TX; Cloudcroft, NM; Alamogordo, NM; Elida, NM; Silverton, TX; and Dickens, TX. He died June 26, 1927.Submitted by R.C. Littlefield II
Last rites and ceremony were conducted for Mrs. Nettie Newton Littlefield Thursday, July 30, at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Dickens. Rev. Victor Crabtree, pastor of Dickens Baptist Church, officiated, assisted by Rev. Merriel Abbott, Pastor of the Methodist Church in Dickens.Mrs. Litlefield was born in Dickens County in 1898. She was converted at the age of 15 and joined the Methodist Church. On July 8, 1923, she was married to R. C. Littlefield, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Dickens High School in 1917.
Mrs. Littlefield´s life was always spent in service for others. In 1918 and 1919 and 1920, she taught school at Croton, then at Dickens in 1921, 1922 and 1923. On January 1, 1933, she was made District Clerk and served in that capacity until December 31, 1940. She also was Postmaster for several years and was County Clerk of Dickens County for several years before her recent illness.
She is survived by one son, R. C., Jr. of Lubbock, one grandson, R. C, III of Lubbock, one sister, Mrs. Jewel Koon of Spur, one brother, Harley Winkler of Grand Prairie, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Judge Brummett, Robert Reynolds, Hugh Swaringen, Fred Harrison, Pete Sullivan and Bill Scott.
Chandler Funeral Home was in charge of interment in the Dickens Cemetery.
