U.S.Flag   Funeral services for Sam Kennedy, 79, of Roaring Springs will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Roaring Springs Baptist Church with Walt Arnold officiating.

Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home of Matador.

He died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002.

He was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Dickens. He graduated from high school in Aspermont and had lived in Arizona, Oklahoma and Channing prior to moving to Roaring Springs in 1988. He was a retired professional rodeo performer, and belonged to a number of rodeo associations, including the Rodeo Cowboys Association, the International Rodeo Association, the U.S. Team Ropers Association, the Oklahoma Daly Team Ropers Association and the National Oldtimers Rodeo Association.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Mariann Cannon of Atoka, Okla., and Debbie Kennedy-Mott of New Richland, Wash.; a son, Dean of Pelkie, Mich.; a sister, Ann Halbedl of Ruidoso, N.M.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
