Biography

Monnie Ann Pool married Curtis J. D. Tennison between 1929-1933. Curtis was born November 11, 1911 in Sipe Springs, Comanche County, Texas. Curtis died in Richland County, Columbia, South Carolina where he is buried. He was married to Rebecca Hattie Roberts at the time of his death, August 15, 1972.

Monnie and Curtis had 5 sons: Bobby Joe born 9/30/1933 and died in 1974. Curtis Wayne was born 8/1/1935 and died 9/12/1996, Billy Dale born 11/30/1937 and died 4/13/1952, Delbert and Jerry "Pee Wee" are still living.

Amos had 3 sons from his first marriage, Marin Leon Jackson, R. D. Jackson and Don Jackson.

Monnie and Amos were married October 24, 1947. They have one son named Danny Charles Jackson.

Obituary

Funeral services for Amos Leon Jackson, 66, Dickens carpenter, were held January 21 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Dickens. Rev. Victor Crabtree officiated, assisted by Rev. R. D. Regard.

Mr. Jackson died at his home on January 29. He had been a resident of Dickens County since 1916. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Monnie Jackson, Dickens four sons, Leon Jackson, Channelview; R. D. Jackson, Levelland; Don Jackson, Brownfield, and Dannie[Danny] Jackson, Lubbock; four step sons, Bobby Tennison, Houston[Fort Worth]; Wayne Tennison, Dallas[Lubbock]; Delbert Tennison, Amarillo and Jerry Tennison, El Paso.

Also surviving are two brothers, Homer and Foy Jackson, both of Dickens; 14 grandchildren.

Pallbearers included E. H. Sweatt, Sam Bingham, T.D. Craft, Oma Clay, Dick Childress, Bill Greenwood and Bill Scott.

Burial was in Dickens Cemetery.

DICKENS (Special) - Services for Monnie Ann Jackson, 65, of Dickens, will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church here, with the Rev. C. L. Atkinson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery, under direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

Mrs. Jackson died at 8:30 p.m. Friday in Mesquite Community Hospital in Mesquite.

She was a native of Jonesboro, Ark., and moved to Dickens County in 1944 from Stamford. She married Amos Jackson, Oct. 24, 1947, in Eric, Okla. He died in 1974.

Survivors include four sons, Wayne Tennison of Dallas, Delbert Tennison of Amarillo, Jerry Tennison of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Danny Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three stepsons, Martin Jackson of Channel View; R. D. Jackson of Levelland and Don Jackson of Brownfield; four brothers, J.M. Pool of Checotah, Okla., J.O. Pool of Hobbs, N.M., J.A. Pool of Kingsland and Ed Pool of Higgins; two sisters, Bessie Swan of Spearman, and Opal Phillips of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 3 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
