Patsy HyattPatsy Ruth Hyatt was born January 15, 1958 in Matador, Texas, while her parents were pastors of the Assembly of God Church in Turkey, Texas. She is the daughter of B. A. and Carlene Beaver Hyatt.

As a child Patsy lived in Turkey, Brownfield, Roaring Springs and Big Lake, Texas before the family moved to Lubbock in 1963. She attended Milams Training Center and Ballinger Elementary Schools before being admitted to the Lubbock State School in August of 1969, which has been home to her from then until she was admitted to the Emergency Room of University Medical Center late Saturday afternoon October 2, 2010. Her general health had degenerated recently, but she was able to eat lunch with her parents and take a ride around town Friday, September 24th.

Patsy was the granddaughter of the late Boon and Nettie Hyatt of Dickens, Texas and the late Carl J. and Maybelle Beaver of Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother, Roger Dale Hyatt in 1986, and her beloved aunt Anna Belle Beaver McCorkle in 1982. Survivors include her parents, B. A. and Carlene Hyatt of Lubbock, Texas, a brother, Byron Allen Hyatt and wife, Kara of Benton, Arkansas, a brother, Ervin Roland Hyatt and wife, Lisa of Lubbock, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and nieces and nephews along with many friends at the Lubbock State School who loved her during her tenure of more than forty years there.

Patsy loved the staff of Lubbock State School and liked to attend chapel services and join in the singing. She was a delight to those who knew her and brought joy to her family and friends. The family would like to express thanks to the dedicated staff of Lubbock Sate School, the staff of University Medical Center and Pastor Tom Lakey, who were so kind and helpful in the final hours of her span on earth. She is now in the presence of her Lord Jesus whom she loved to praise.
