Burial will be in Dickens Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Gunnels died Wednesday, June 24, 1998, in Crosbyton Hospital.

He was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Matador. He moved to Dickens from Lubbock and Tahoka. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a Baptist.

He was a truck driver for 30 years. He was a nurse´s aide at Kent County Nursing Home and Total Home Health Care.

Survivors include his parents, Bud Elmer and Ouida Gunnels of Dickens; a brother, Bobby of Brownfield; and a sister, Donna Willis of Tahoka.

The family suggests memorials to Dickens County EMS.
