Funeral services for J.B. Gage, 48, were held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Church pastor, Rev. Norris Taylor, officiated.Mr. Gage was found dead in his home about 10:15 p.m. Monday. Justice of the Peace, John Nay is withholding a ruling in the death, pending an inquiry.
A farmer, Mr. Gage had lived in Dickens County all of his life. He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Patty Cage, Spur; two sons, Tim and Jace Gage, both of Spur; five daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Chancey and Mrs. Elaine Hale, both of Lubbock; Mrs. Cindy Bilberry, Lawton, OK; Miss Jamie Gage and Miss Jod-Dee Gage, both of the home.
Five brothers, Charlie and Monroe Gage, both of Afton; Johnnie Gage, Stamford; R.O. Gage, Dallas and Gene Gage, Sherman; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Donathan, Phoenix, AZ; Mrs. Grace Stephenson, Comfort and Mrs. Ruth Winfield, Delta, Utah, eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Buck Scot, J.W. Vickery Jr., Jack Condron, Wendall Norris, Clay Edwards and Bob Porter.
Burial was in Dickens Cemetery.
