Biography

Henry Jackson Elmore was the husband of Vergie Sue Fulfer also buried at Dickens Cemtery.

They had three children:
O. Leroy Elmore b. December 19, 1916 d. January 18, 2004 Austin, TX
Cecil L. Elmore b. October 17, 1924 d. Still living in July 2001
Lois Mae Elmore Hammer b. September 12, 1920 d. July 10, 2001 Oregon City, Oregon

Obituary

Henry J. Elmore, , 78, of 4737 SE 38 Del City, died Monday in a Midwest City nursing home following an extended illness. Services will be at 1 p.m, Wednesday in the United Methodist Church at Spur, Tex., directed by W. E. Campbell Funeral Home. Local arrangements were made by Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home.

Elmore was born in Young Co., Tex., and had lived in Del City since 1967. He was a retired farmer and a Mason.

Survivors included his wife, Vergie; two sons, Leroy, Lubbock, Tex., and C. L. MInneapolis, Minn.,; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Hammer, of the home; and a brother, Jim, Seagraves, Tex.

Friends may call at Bill Eisenhour Funeral home until noon Tuesday.

Vergia Sue Elmore died Monday, April 5, 1993 at the age of 97 in Del City, Oklahoma. Services were held in Del City, April 6. A graveside service was at the Dickens Cemetery in Dickens, Texas.

She was survived by two sons, Leroy Elmore, Dallas; and C.L. Elmore, Minneapolis, Minnesota; a daughter, Lois Hammer, Del City, Oklahoma.

She was born, December 1, 1895 in Stephenville. She married Henry Jackson Elmore, October 19, 1913 in Spur in a ceremony with three other couples in four buggies. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Spur for 34 years.

She had seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
