Henry Edward was born August 1, 1909 in the Croton Community in Dickens County, TX. His parents were J. W. Edwards, who came to Dickens late in the nineties from Eastland County. His mother Mattie Davidson came to Dickens County in the early nineties. Her father helped build the courthouse in 1892; they lived in Dickens and then moved to Dumont.Henry went to school at Croton when it was a one room school and continued until he finished school. He is a farmer and rancher and has been County Commissioner since 1953 and is re-elected for another term of four years. He has always stood for the betterment of his community.
He married Ruby Pernell of the same community in December 29, 1926. They have two children, Melba and Charles. They both live in the county.
Henry is a real native of Dickens County, and he has lived in the Croton community all of his life.
