Clay Edwards was born September 16, 1912 to J.W. "Dock" and Mattie Davidson Edwards. Clay was born and raised in the Croton Flat of Dickens County where his grandfather, Jim Davidson settled in 1890. Clay attended school at Croton. He had six brothers: Rusty, Claude, Joe, Henry, J.D. and Coots, and two sisters: Gertie and Jettie.Robbie Wyatt was born February 7, 1914 to Ed and Amanda Walker Wyatt in Dickens County just outside of Spur. Her parents came to Dickens County in 1908 and raised ten children here. Her family lived on the Boothe place near Croton when she met Clay. They were married August 23, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma.
As newlyweds they moved to the land where Clay was born and raised. This was their home for fifty-two years, as they raised their two sons. Doc Dwayne and Max Wyatt. Doc married Bonnie Smith and they live in Spur. They have three children and two granddaughters. Sharon and her husband, Hoss Martin live in Spur with their two daughters, Misty and Jennifer. Patricia married Glenn Heinrich and they live in Slaton. Mark lives in Dallas. Max is married to Joyce Bopp from Illinois. They live in Clovis, New Mexico.
Clay farmed, ran some cattle, and had a large sheep herd that brought him many hours of pleasure. He was known well for his registered sheep, Hampshires in the earlier years, then Suffolk. He was a dedicated member of the Dickens County Junior Livestock Show Committee where he served many years working with the youth in the area until his death in June, 1985.

Services for Robbie Lou Edwards, 79, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aguust 28, 1993, in Campbell Funeral Home Chapel. ERnie Bishop, minister of the Highway 70 Church of Christ, officiated.Burial was in Dickens Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards died about 6:25 p.m. August 26 as the result of injuries in a two-car collision in Dickens. She was born in Dickens County and had lived here all her life.
She married Clay Edwards on August 23, 1933 in Hollis, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1985. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Doc Edwards, Spur and Max Edwards, Belleville, Illinois; one brother, Jim Wyatt, Spur; two sisters, Christine Hunt, Adair, Oklahoma and Mable Holloway, Spur; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
