Services for Gerald "Jerry" Earnest, 77, of Lubbock were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2003 in Oakwood United Methodist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Dr. James G. Ninn. Interment was in the Dickens Cemetery, following service. Arrangements were under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.Mrs. Earnest died Sunday May 11, 2003 in Heritage Oaks.
She was born January 9, 1926 in Nelet, Oklahoma and moved to Dickens in 1931 with her family. She married Forest B. Earnest February 15, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Spur. She graduated from Dickens High School in 1944. She was a homemaker and a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Forest B. of Lubbock; three sons, Ernie Earnest of Austin, Danny C. Earnest of Lubbock, and Kenneth Wayne Earnest of Austin; a daughter, Laura Celese Earnest of Lubbock; two brothers, Hubert Hawley of Lake Ransom Canyon, and Curtis Hawley of Richardson; two sisters, Merl Brown of Lubbock and Charlene Bresslin of Richardson; and one granddaughter, Linsey Nichole Earnest of Austin.

Dugan Earnest, 86, longtime resident of Lubbock, joined his loving wife of 56 years, Geraldine "Jerry" Earnest, on July 19, 2008. He was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Espeula.Dugan was a 50-year member of the Masonic Yellowhouse Lodge No. 841 and a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII.
Survivors include his children, Ernie D. Earnest of Buda, Danny C. Earnest of Lubbock, Laurel Celese Earnest of Lubbock, and Kenneth W. Earnest of Austin; and a granddaughter, Lynsie N. Earnest of Buda.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Oakwood Methodist Church with Rev. Eddie Marcum officiating. Interment will follow at Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends from 7:30-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
