Services for Wallace Eugene Day, 91, will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Church of Christ Spur, TX with Tommy Bailey officiating under the direction of Zapata Funeral Home, followed by interment at the Dickens Cemetery in Dickens, TX. A Visitation will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Zapata Funeral Home.

On September 8, 2016 Wallace Eugene Day was called from this earth to heaven to meet his maker and his savior. The boundless joy that he is experiencing hugging the mother of his children, his parents, brothers, sisters and a host of friends that have gone on before him, will far exceed the sadness we may feel of losing him here on earth.

Wallace spent the most of his 91 years in Dickens County and Spur. It was a time that he was quoted as saying, Id like to live them all over again. He was the loving husband to Lois Evelyn Hathaway. He was the adoring father to Ronnie Day and wife Karen, Carter Day and wife Linda, Evelyn Mathewson and husband George, Mike Day and wife Janie and David Day and wife Brenda. He was the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. His belief in God and family has guided his pursuit of a life that can be redeemed in heaven and followed by his children and grandchildren. Wallace was an avid fan of playing dominos. He was sharp as a tack at counting points and telling his opponents what they had in their hand. He was able to play dominos nearly nightly with family and friends. He was able to recognize his children and call them by name. He was an inspiration to family and friends. He was an officer of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) organization, but he was passionate about helping in any way possible the Spur Senior Citizens. Upon standing in front of his God he will hear the following: Well done thou good and faithful servant- - -enter into the joy of thy Lord.
