SPUR (Special) Services for Jack Cook, 68, of Cedar Vale, Kans., will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Ned Hicks, pastor, officiating.Burial will follow in Dickens Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
He died Thursday in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Columbuia, Mo., after a sudden illness.
He was born in Throckmorton and moved to Cedar Vale in 1986 from Oklahoma. He married Ruby Ray on Sept. 7, 1946 in Haskell. He had worked for the Swenson and Pitchfork ranches and was a horse trainer and ranch manager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Annie Nash of Throckmorton; a stepson, Pat Mason of Latham, Kan.; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Smith of Alliance, Neb.; two brothers, Jimmy and Joe, both of Throckmorton; a sister, Doris Tharp of Throckmorton; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Nephews will be pallbearers.
