LAST RITES FOR JAMES F. BAKER CONDUCTED SUNDAY

Victim of gunshot Wounds Succumbs in Hospital Here

Dickens, Jan. 12 - - Bond of $5,000 returnable to the 110th district court grand jury Feb. 4, was posted here by R.F. Harkey 53, on a formal murder charge growing out of the fatal shooting Friday night of Jim Baker, about 50.

Funeral services were held for Baker at 3 Sunday afternoon in the Dickens Baptist Church. Burial was in Dickens cemetery.

The complaint charging murder with malice was filed Saturday morning in justice court of Roy Ward.

Baker, a farmer and wrecking yard operator in Dickens died in Nichols General Hospital in Spur about an hour after a shot from a .44 calibre pistol entered his stomach. Harkey lives north of Dickens.

Sheriff Fred Christopher conducted an investigation of the shooting which took place about 4 Friday afternoon. He said he was told that the two men had engaged in an argument about a week ago.
