E.J. Atkinson

U.S.Flag   Funeral services for E.J. Atkinson, 40, were held December 18, 1976 in the First Baptist Church, Dickens. The construction foreman for Poka-Lambro Phone Co., in Tahoka, Mr. Atkinson died December 16 in the Lynn County Hospital.

Rev. Tut Jones, pastor of the Sweet Street Baptist Church, Tahoka, officiated. Mr. Atkinson had been a resident of Dickens County for about 20 years. He had made his home in Tahoka for the past 8 years. He was a member of the Baptist Church, the VFW. He served in the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Zina Atkinson, Tahoka; three sons, Earnest Joe, Johnny Bob and Ronnie Atkinson, all of the home; a daughter, Jaye Ann Atkinson, of the home; four brothers, H.L. Hoagland, Amarillo; Kenneth Atkinson, Dickens; C.L. Atkinson, Tahoka and Don Atkinson, Spur; five sisters, Mrs. Ouida Gunnels, Tahoka; Mrs. Wanda Wilke, Texline; Mrs. Maurine Reynolds, Farmington, NM; Mrs. Bobbie Hix, Kingfisher, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Elmyra Greenwood, Dickens.

Nephews served as pallbearers. Burial was in Dickens Cemetery.
