Last Rites Held for Mrs. Filena E. Allen

Funeral services for Mrs. Filena Edelia Allen, 82, were conducted at 4 p.m. Sept. 4, 1949, in the First Baptist Church, Dickens, with Bro. A.P. Stokes, Afton minister, and O.L. DeWees, Crosbyton, officiating.

Mrs. Allen died Sept. 2, 1949. She was born Dec. 23, 1866, in Louisiana, and came to Texas at the age of 13. She was married to George Jackson in 1885 and again to A.A. Allen in 1904.

Immediate survivors include four sons, C.H. Jackson, Croton; L.A. Jackson, Lubbock; R.H. Allen, Channing; Herman Allen, Amarillo; one daughter, Minnie Kelley, Anson.

Also surviving are four sisters, Ada Jackson, Winters; Ida Polk, Rotan; Ola Monroe, Ranger; Lena Bryson, Sweetwater; two brothers, J.L. Waggoner, Estancia,NM, and W.E. Waggoner, Brownwood; three stepdaughters, May Sparks, Bangs; Cleone Mayfield, Ozona, Edna Bilberry, Midland; one stepson, Bob Allen, Midland.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Clarence Butts, Frank Murphy, Dillard Jackson, Johnny Koonsman, Peyton Leff and Fred Arrington.

Chandler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and interment was in Dickens Cemetery.
