Funeral services for Mrs. D.W. Smith of Dickens, who passed away after a four months illness, at the home of her son in Dickens, on Sunday, May 23, 1948, were held in the Baptist Church in Dickens, with Rev. A.P. Stokes, of Afton, assisted by Rev. B.C. Stonecipher, pastor of the Dickens Baptist church officiating.

Mrs. Sally Smith was born in Denton County, May 24, 1872. She was preceded in death by her three daughters and her husband who died May 24, 1931 at Duncan Flat. She moved to Dickens County in 1930, where she has lived ever since that time.

She was converted and joined the Baptist Church at the age of fourteen, she has been a christian for sixty two years, and had been a member of the Baptist Church of Dickens for 14 years. She lacked only a few hours of being seventy six years old.

Survivors include her two sons, David Smith of Dickens; Floyd Smith of Pitchfork Ranch; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Drew, Shamrock; Dan Drew, Henrietta, Oklahoma; and one sister, Mrs. Ella Wilson, Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Rix Funeral Home of Lubbock was in charge of arrangement.

Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
