Obituary

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Church of Christ, Afton, for Mrs. Ella White Smith, 71. George Calvert officiated.

Mrs. Smith died in a Lubbock rest home on March 18, following a lengthy illness. She was 71. She had resided in Dickens County from 1917 until 1963 when she moved to Lubbock. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, J.S. Smith, of Lubbock; one son, Ferrel Smith, Lubbock; two brothers, James White of Girard and Bill White, also of Girard; one half brother, Frank Sates of Cisco and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Gale, Spur and Mrs. Jesse Dunlap, Lubbock; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were John Jackson, Byron Haney, Curtis Goodwin, Jeff Randolph, H. I. Yeates, Buck Partridge, Pete Hext.

Interment was in Afton Cemetery.

Funeral services for Judge S. Smith, 84, a retired farmer, were held Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. in the Afton Church of Christ. George Calvert, Midland officiated.

Mr. Smith resided in Dickens County from 1917 to 1963. He had lived in Lubbock since 1963. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Ferrel Smith, Lubbock; one sister, Josephine Jackson, Lubbock; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Tom Breedlove, H.I. Yeates, Curtis Goodwin, Felix Rameriz, Buck Patridge, J.W. McAllister.
