Services for Juanita Lester Rye, 91, of Lubbock, were held at 2:00, Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with the Ken Horn officiating. Burial will be in Afton Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rye died Wednesday, December 4, 2003.

Mrs. Rye was born July 17, 1912 in Canton, TX to Dave and Molly Hammond Clay. She married Henry (Dick) Lester on May 12, 1928 in Dickens.

He preceded her in death on February 10, 1954. She married Carl Rye in 1955 in Spur. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1986. Mrs. Rye was known for keeping a beautiful yard. She also liked the Grand Ol Opry and country music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister and 1 son-in-law, Doc Roberts.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Dorothy Lester Roberts of Brownfield, and Wanda Lester Nelson and son-in-law, T.E. Nelson of Lubbock, 1 brother, Benny Clay of Dickens, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Afton Cemetery Association or the Alzheimer Institute, Dept. of Neurology, Texas Tech University Health Science Center, 3601 4th, Lubbock, TX 79430.
