Obituary

Funeral services for C.O. Parker were held at Afton, Tuesday, Jan. 11, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. A.P. Stokes officiating. Death occurred from heart ailments. Interment was made in the Afton cemetery, Curry Funeral Home in charge.

Clarence Oliver Parker was born June 21, 1882 in Waldo, Arkansas. The family later moving to Waco.

Mr. Parker was married to Miss Anne Hill in 1906. They moved to Dickens County in 1917.

Mr. Parker was a member of the Baptist church, having been converted at an early age.

Surviving are his widow and eight children: Mrs. Anne Parker, Mrs. J.H. Blakely, Mrs. Clyde Henry, Mrs. S.J. Stephenson, Wilma Parker, Mary Parker, Robert Parker, Mack Parker and Jack Parker. One brother, J.L. Parker, Houston; three sisters, Mrs. M.C. Johnson, Mrs. George Holbrook, and Mrs. John L. Carter; and six grandchildren. Also a host of relatives and friends.

Last rites for Mrs. Annie Parker, 66, who died Saturday June 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Blakley, Spur, were held Sunday at the Dicken Baptist Church . Rev. H.L. Burnham, assisted by Rev. A.P. Stokes, officiated.

The deceased married C.O. Parker in Hopkins County, Texas in 1904. They came to Dickens County in October 1917 and had lived in the Dickens and Afton community since that time. Mrs. Parker was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, R.W., Lorenzo, Texas; Mack, Freeport, Texas; and Jack, Chino, California; five daughters, Mrs. John Blakley, Spur; Mrs. S.J. Stephenson, Lockney; Mrs. Leon McClure, Clinton, Oklahoma; Mrs. Clyde Henry, Atwater, California; Mrs. R.D. Corn, Upland, California; 18 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Interment was in the Afton Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home.
