Services for Ethel V. McCarty, 91, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Primitive Baptist Church with George Johnson, an elder, and Michael Adcock officiating.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Afton Cemetery under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home in Lubbock.

She died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003.

She was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Knox City and moved to Lubbock in 1974 from Afton. She married Johnny Young in 1927 in Dickens County. He died in 1941. She married Farris McCarty on June 14, 1947, in Roswell, N.M. He died in 1973.

She attended school in Knox City. A homemaker, she was a member of Primitive Baptist Church.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Luther McCarty.

Survivors include three sons, Wilmor Young of Port Angeles, Wash., Marvin Young of Sweetwater and Kenneth Young of Fort Worth; four daughters, Wilma Keeney of Oklahoma City and Barbara Holland, Dolores Adcock and Vivian Metsgar, all of Lubbock; a brother, Richard Varnell of Palestine; 33 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Primitive Baptist Church, 4401 N. University Ave., Lubbock, TX 79415.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
