Obituary

Andrew Kelley McAllister, resident of Dickens Co., died October 21.

He was born in 1889 in Alabama and moved to Texas when he was fourteen years old and had lived in Dickens County for almost 25 years.

He was a member of the Baptist Church.

His funeral was at the Afton Baptist Church, Saturday, October 23, with Thomas Harris of Whiteface officiating, assisted by Hugh McGee.

Pallbearers were Gus Martin, D.F. Robinson, Carrey Roberts and Gus Martin, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Julia Mae and daughters Cora Bland of Afton and Fannie Lou of Dickens and two sons, J.W. of Afton and Clyde of Lubbock.

Mrs. McAllister Services Held

Funeral services were held Monday, December 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Afton Baptist Church for Mrs. Julia Mae McAllister, 80. Rev. D. J. Peters, Anton and Rev. Jack DeWitt, Dickens, officiated.

Mrs. McAllister died after an extended illness at the Crosbyton Hospital. She was born May 2, 1889 in Rockford, Alabama. She came to Dickens County in 1920 when she married A.K. McAlister.

Survivors include one daughter, Fannie Lou Richards, Post; one stepdaughter, Cora Bland, Afton; two sons, J.W. Dickens; Clyde, Lubbock; four sisters, Mrs. Dea Skaggs, Rockford, Ala.; Mrs. Ophelia Thornell, Alexander City, Ala.; Mrs. Daisey Girdner, Ramer, Ala., Mrs. Carrie Gillespie, Ashford, Ala.; three brothers, Melvin, Fulmer, Rockford, Ala.; Ocie Fulmer, Central, Ala.; and Marvin Fulmer, Ackron, Ohio.

Pallbearers were: Gus Martin, Gaston Jackson, T.B. (Bernie) Haney, Dewey Dement, Joe Kidd, and Amos Jackson.

Interment was in the Afton Cemetery.
