Services Are Held for Dick Lester

Funeral services for Henry Calvin (Dick) Lester were conducted Friday, February 12 at the First Baptist Church. Rev. B. Allen officiated. He was assisted by Rev. Victor Crabtree of Dickens.

Lester was born April 16, 1898. He died February 10, 1954 after a prolonged illness. He came to Dickens County in 1916 and was converted in 1917. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. On May 12, 1928 he was married to Juanita Clay at Dickens. They made their first home in Wichita.

Pallbearers were Payton Legg, Gus Martin, George Pierce, Homer Jackson, Martin Pope and Harvey Holly, Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School class.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Dorothy Roberts of Afton and Wanda Lester of Spur; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Finchum of Dumas; stepfather Jim Finchum of Dickens, six sisters, Hattie Youngblood of Red Springs, Maudie Conoway of Dickens, Jessie Leeman of Muleshoe. Jewel Rice of Shreveport, Ruth Clark of Dumas, and Bonnie LaRue of Shreveport; one brother Ray Finchum of Dickens and four grandchildren.
