Funeral services for Peter James Hext, 71, were held Friday, December 30 in the Afton Baptist church. Rev. O.L. Deweese, pastor, officiated.
Mr. Hext died December 28 at this home in Dickens. He had been a resident of Dickens County all of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jack Hext, Dickens; a son, Jimmy Jack Hext, Lubbock; three daughters: Mrs. Ronnie Bennett, Denard, AR; Mrs. Darla Schwartz and Mrs. Jerry Duke, both of Odessa; three brothers, Nurl Hext, Lubbock; Henry Hext, Throckorton and Carrol Hext, Yreka, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Cassie Perry, Abilene and Mrs. Lillie Rose, Lubbock; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Coy Morris, Charlie Gage, Gus Martin, Judy Hickman, David Clay, Bunch Williams, John Stokes and Robert Forbis.
Burial was in Afton Cemetery.
