Graveside services for Jack Hext, 95, of Dickens, were held at Afton Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 1, 2004 with Rev. Rory Mosley officiating. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

She died March 29, 2004. Mrs. Hext was born Dec. 20, 1908 in Wetohpke, OK. She married Peter James Hext in Dickens county in 1927. He preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 1977.

She is remembered by her family as a vibrant woman with a saying for everything and a passion for family and the outdoors. Mrs. Hext loved to watch baseball, garden, fish and read.

Mrs. Hext is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, 3 daughters, Joan Thomason, Moonyeen (Corkie) Bennett, and Jawan Hext, 2 grandsons, Dale Duke and James Hinson, and 1 great granddaughter, Shawna Gale Brown.

She is survived by 1 son, Jimmy Jack Hext of Lubbock, 2 daughters, Darla Schwartz and Jerry Leverich of Odessa, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, and a special friend, Linda Hotchco.
