Funeral services for Rupert Patrick Harvey were held at the Afton Methodist church Sunday. Rev. A.P. Stokes, a long time friend of the family, conducted the services. Interment followed in Afton Cemetery with Campbell's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Harvey had been ill for some time. He passed away Saturday, at the age of 69 years.

He was born in Haywood, Illinois, October 2, 1869. He came to Texas in the early days and had been a citizen of Dickens County 42 years. He was considered one of the early settlers of this country and was a real West Texas in spirit. He had a high ideal of truth and good morals.

He is survived by a nephew, Leonard Gates of Afton; a niece, Mrs. Marian Burt of Roaring Springs; a cousin, Miss Minnie Harvey of Afton; one uncle, Charlie Arrington of Spur; one brother-in-law, Eugene Gates, of Roaring Springs.
