Graveside services for Elmer (Cotton) Edwards, 79, of Lubbock, were at 2 p.m. October 9, 1993 in Afton Cemetery. Rev. Jimmy Hill, Slaton officiated, assisted by Rev. C.L. Atkinson, Afton.
Campbell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Edwards died at 11:32 p.m. at Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Floyd County but had lived in Spur before moving to Lubbock in 1958.
He married Alice Bateman in Clovis, N.M. on December 22, 1936.
He was a truck driver while living in Spur. In Lubbock he was a maintenance technician in charge of Lowrey Field while employed by the Lubbock ISD. Two children preceded him in death, Carolyn Joan in 1937 and Jessie Ray in 1947.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Dale Edwards, Lubbock and Ross Edwards, Bradford, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Barbara Billings, Lubbock and Lynn Lamb, Fort Worth; a sister, Elda Rogers, Midland; eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Alice Pearl Edwards, 88, of Lubbock and formerly of Dickens County died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 in Lubbock. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006 at Afton Baptist Church with Rev. Linn Winters officiating. Burial will be in Afton Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home in Spur.
Mrs. Edwards was born Dec. 3, 1918 in Dickens County to Robert and Pearl Ingram Bateman. She married Elmer "Cotton" Edwards Dec. 22, 1936 in Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1993. She retired as a lead custodian for the Lubbock Independent School District after many years of service. Alice never met a stranger and helped in raising several children besides her own.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two children, two grandchildren, one great grandchild and 12 siblings.
Alice is survived by two sons, Dale Edwards and wife Patricia and Ross Edwards all of Lubbock; two daughters, Barbara Billings and husband Cal of Mesa, Ariz. and Lynn Lamb of Ft. Worth; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-7 p.m. today.
