Conan Edgar, 9, Dies of Suffocation, Friday at Glenn
The community of Glenn was shocked when the sad news went out Friday evening of the death by suffocation of Conan Edgar, 9-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Edgar, at their home near Glenn.
Shortly after returning home from school, Conan went to the barn to play and at sundown when he had failed to return to the house a search about the premises revealed his lifeless body buried under two or three feet of cotton seed.
Cowan Renee Edgar was born Aug. 6, 1931, being 9 years, 3 months and 9 days old at the time of his death November 15, 1940.
Funeral services were held Saturday 2:30 p.m. at the Afton Baptist Church with the Rev. N.J. Lowrance, officiating.
Flower bearers were classmates: Ramona Randolph, Louise Norris, Bernice Randolph, Donnie Lawson, Kathrine Speights, Durline Byrd, Ella Jean Ragland, Ruby Gilmore.
Pallbearers were L.J. Varnell, Loyd Edgar, Johnny Young, T.D. Hale, Johnny Williams, Jim Speights.
Honorary pallbearers were classmates: Jackson Lee Powell, Billie Bud Sims, Charles Edward Haney, Billie Jean Grace, Harley Ragland.
Interment in Afton Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Chapel in charge.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Edgar and one brother.
