Obituary

J. M.Dunlap, a longtime resident of Duncan Flat community, died in Lubbock Saturday at 5:15 a.m.

Dunlap had lived alone on his farm at Duncan Flat since his wife died several years ago. About three months ago he moved to Lubbock and was living with a daughter, Mrs. C.R. McLaughlin.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at Afton, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Rev. W.B. Vaughn of Matador officiated, assisted by Rev. B.L. Smith of Roaring Springs. Burial was in Afton cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Survivors included three sons, J.A. and James of Lubbock and N.A. of Muleshoe, three daughters, Mrs. Thelma Purdy and Mrs. C.R. McLaughlin of Lubbock and Mrs. Vernon Harris of Spur; 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were the grandsons.
