Funeral services were held for W.H. Bateman, Saturday, March 11, at 3 p.m. in the Duncan Flat Baptist Church. Rev. A.P. Stokes and Roy Boles officiated the services.
Mr. Bateman was born in Hopkins County, Texas, March 7, 1889. He married Miss Nellie Ingram in 1914 in Hopkins county and in 1916 they moved to Dickens County where they had made their home for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Tiny Beth of Glenn, and Mrs. Jane Holliday of Clovis, N.M. and two sons, Carroll of Glenn and Wayne of Clovis, N.M. , also seven grandchildren.

Mrs. Nellie Ree Bateman, 84, passed away Thursday morning about 5 o´clock August 25. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday, August 26 at the Ford Memorial Chapel at the First Baptist Church in Lubbock. Officiating was Rev. Stan Blevins, pastor of Oakwood Baptist Church assisted by associate pastor of the First Baptist Church Rev. I.D. Walker.
Mrs. Bateman was a native of Dickens County many years before moving to Lubbock some 20 years ago. She was a resident of the Sherick Memorial Home for retired ladies. She suffered a lengthy illness and passed away at Methodist Hospital. Burial was in Afton Cemetery under direction of Sander´s Funeral Home.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Jane Holliday and Miss Tiny Beth Bateman both of Lubbock; two sons, Carroll Bateman, Wills Point and Wayne Bateman of Houston; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Kenneth Bateman, Kitt Bateman, Rodney Bateman, Doug Bateman, Bill Bateman, James Bateman, Bill Holliday and Phil Holliday.
