Obituary

SPUR (Special) — Services for Paul Russell Bateman, 74, of Spur will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Galloup, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Afton Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Bateman died at 7:20 a.m. Saturday at Crosbyton Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Wood County. He married Wilma Gibson on Aug. 18, 1964, in Weatherford. He had lived in Dickens County most of his life and was a retired truck driver. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Russell of Shallowater; two daughters, Jo Ann Hill of Slaton and Paula McDonald of Mabank; a brother, Ray of Afton; two sisters, Ann Howard of Afton and Alice Edwards of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

Wilma Bateman 87, passed away June 30, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on December 30, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. James Gibson. Wilma married Paul Bateman in Fort Worth in 1961.

She retired as a secretary of a Law Office. Wilma is survived by one stepson Russell Bateman of Spur, Texas; as well as three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul and her parents.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday July 3, 2012 at the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with C.L. Atkinson officiating under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Afton Cemetery in Afton, Texas.
