  Reburial Rites For Pfc. Bruce Bateman

Graveside reburial services were held for Pfc. Bruce Bateman, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Bateman of Afton, who was killed in action while serving with the U.S. Army on Okinawa (Pacific) May 23, 1945. Rev. A.P.Stokes officiated at the services held at the Afton Cemetery, November 13 at 3 p.m.

Bruce was born January 26, 1924 at Afton. On January 12, 1943 at Abernathy he married Louise Shaw and to this union a baby girl was born.

Pallbearers were Boe Day, Melvin Adams, Obie Lee, Jack Day, Al Foreman and Larry Boothe.

He is survived by his wife, Louise; daughter Danella; and brothers Paul and Bass Bateman of Spur; Ray, R.J. and a sister Ann Bateman, all of Afton, two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Edwards and Mrs. Weaver Hobbs both of Spur.

Other relatives are W.H. Bateman of Glenn, Emitt Kerby of Dallas, J.M. Bateman of Quitman and Mrs. Walter Taylor of San Marcos.
