On January 13, 1907, Marguerite Serena SANDEFER / SANDIFER married John Charles Mannon BISHOP in Wylie, Collin County, Texas. Marguerite had a daughter at the time, Callie Mae, that is my grandmother, who was born in Chickasha, Indian Territory (now Grady County, OK), on March 17, 1902. John and Marguerite had two children born in Wylie -- Theodore (11/20/1907) and Iva Bernice (11/29/1909). The family was in Green Valley, Denton County, on November 9, 1909, when the twins (Winnie Sue and Kenny Brue) were born and probably there in 1914 when Eva Janice was born. They were in Wichita County on May 18, 1917, when their last child, Sammie Jay, was born on May 18, 1917. John may have had two children by a prior marriage -- Annie Laura and Seth.

OK, now that I've gotten through all that, the problem is this -- we don't know who Callie Mae's father was. It is strongly suspected that he was a MILES but no one has found a marriage certificate. It was my grandmother's wish (she is now deceased) that someone find her father and his family. Marguerite, her mother, apparently had a sister or other relative living in Chickasha that she stayed with while she was having my grandmother.

Any help/information would be appreciated.

I'm looking for information re: my gr. grandfather, John Henry HENDRICK. According to my gr. grandmother's Confederate Pension Record, he died October 9, 1882. He was 36 at time of death. My gr. grandmother Elizabeth Sullivan HENDRICK, then moved to San Saba. My question is this: I was told approx. two years ago that he had been murdered. The story goes that he was shot by Elizabeth'S sister's husband, one Mr. WEEMS. John Henry HENDRICK is buried in Denton County. I believe at Pilot Point. Were there any newspapers in the county at that time? Is there a way to verify this rumor? I have never known the cause of death. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My grandparents Milton Hervey & America Elizabeth VIVION or VIVIAN came to Denton Co. in the 1880's. They lived in Little Elm and owned a house there. It is my understanding that there were 2 churches there--the Baptist Church & the Church of Christ. Are there church membership records dating that far back? If so, do either of their names appear? Or the names of their children, Flavel, Feland, Ellen, Mattie or John? Also Milton Hervey was a Mason. Do rolls exist for that lodge?
