Services for Lenora Callaway Tinnin Spikes, 93, of Lubbock were held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at the Ralls First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris officiating. Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.She died Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at University Medical Center in Lubbock. She was born March 5, 1910 to the late W. T. and Mattie Elizabeth Smith Callaway. On February 14, 1928 she married Earl B. Tinnin in Lorenzo. He died on October 8, 1962. She then Married Dr. Lowell Wilson Spikes. He died on October 10, 1973.
She was a long time resident of Ralls where she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and had served as choir director at the First United Methodist Church. She was proprietor of the Ben Franklin store and co-owner of Lynch-Tinnin Department store until the death of her husband Earl Tinnin. In the late 1970´s she moved to Lubbock where she was also an active member in the Methodist Church, the First Ladies of Lubbock and numerous gardening clubs.
She is preceded in death by a son Sidney Earl Tinnin who died on December 23, 1996, two brothers; Clyde and Woods Callaway, two sisters; Lorraine Storm and Ruby Godfrey.
Survivors include; four grandchildren; Debra T. Black and her husband of West End, North Carolina, Cynthia Tinnin of Midkiff, Texas, Cheryl Doggett and her husband of Midland, Texas; a stepson; Carey Spikes of Houston, a stepdaughter; Anne Campbell and her husband of Tyler, six great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
