Services for Harold Reed, 72, of Ralls were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 1997 in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Morrow, pastor and Rev. Floyd Haddock, retired Baptist minister from Lubbock officiating.
Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Mr. Reed died at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 1997 in Lubbock's St. Mary Hospital following an illness.
He was born Nov. 2, 1924 in Ralls and married Dorothy Story Feb. 24, 1958 in Plainview, TX. He was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Ralls High School and Texas Tech University. He retired as the bookkeeper for Abell-Prewitt Implement Co. in Ralls, then he was a Farmers Insurance Group salesman for 38 years. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Crosby County VFW Post 1680. He lived in the Ralls area all his life.
Two sisters preceded him in death, Virginia Fay Bratton in 1978 and Billye Maxine Graham on April 10, 1996.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Reed of Ralls; a son, Jerry Green; two daughters, Nancy Blanco and Sherry Battes both of Lubbock; three brothers, Norman "Beans" Reed of Ralls, James D. Reed of Dublin, and Edwin Ray Reed of Weatherford; a sister, Frances Reed of Lubbock; and 2 grandchildren, Zachery Blanco and Justin Blanco.
Pallbearers were Bryan Reed, Hank Reed, Andy Reed, Dennis Reed, John Spivey, Jim Harris, Campdon Lawson, Joe Jester, and Jessie Johnson.
