Services for Merle Mimms McFarland, 80 of Ralls was at 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2005 at the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls with Harvie Pruitt officiating. Burial followed in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.She passed away May 3, 2005 at her home in Ralls.
She was born on June 10, 1924 in Dickens County to Otho and Margaret Alma (Lee) Mimms. On October 21, 1943 she married John R. McFarland in Ralls, Texas. He preceded her in death on October 19, 1978.
She was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls and was the Director of the Ralls Senior Citizen Center for many years. She moved to Ralls in 1978 from Brownfield. She is also preceded in death by a brother Leroy Mimms and a sister Gladys Gilstrap.
Survivors include; two sons; Steve McFarland of Arlington, Tommy McFarland of Lubbock, four brothers; Darrell Mimms of Conway, Ark., G. W. "Pete" Mimms of Shallowater, Marvin Mimms of Lazbuddie, Dalton Mimms of Hereford, five sisters; Jewel Taylor, Claudia Porter, Leona Blanton, and Jerrine Parks all of Lubbock and Doris Moorman of Clovis, New Mexico, two grandchildren John Steven McFarland, II and Lenory Michelle McFarland and 1 great grandchild Isabelle Michelle McFarland.
Pallbearers were: Randall Blanton, Clay Mimms, Kelly Mimms, Tracy Mimms, Dale Moorman and Jim Parks.
