Services for Rex Kimbrough, 92, of Dewey, Oklahoma and formerly Lubbock will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 18, 2006 in the chapel at Trinity Church in Lubbock with Wendell Kimbrough minister of the Gospel and the Rev. Paul Jantzen officiating. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mr. Kimbrough passed away Monday, May 15, 2006 at his home in Dewey.
Rex was born on February 27, 1914 in Byers, Clay County, Texas to the late James and Susan (Howard) Kimbrough. On December 10, 1933 he married Lula Mae Dyess in Ralls, Texas. He was a child of God, a patriarch of the family and was well loved by many friends. He was a member of Trinity Church in Lubbock and the Prime Time Sunday School Class. He attended Texas Tech University for two years and Abilene Christian College for two years. Rex was a retired minister and had pastored at churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, Mississippi and in Pasadena, Lorenzo, Ralls and White Deer, Texas.
Survivors include; his wife; Lula Mae of Dewey, OK, two sons and their wives; Wendell and Janelle of Bacliff, David and Rebecca, of Lake Richland Chambers, two daughters and their husbands; Shari Lyn and Larry Herschberger of Lubbock, Norma and Lenard Ames of Dewey, OK, 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 AM to service time.
