Theo Holmes was born November 13, 1888, in Brown County. At the age of fourteen he moved to Gomez, Texas. He was married to Miss Betty Reed in January, 1910. He met Miss Reed while attending Baylor College. He taught the first school in Ralls, also teaching at Estacado and Farmer, both in Crosby County.
Holmes served two years as Crosby County Commissioner and later was a supervisor for the Soil Conservation Project. He was a Mason and belonged to the Baptist Church.
Mr. Holmes was very civic-minded and did much for his town, his county and his country. He was loyal to the church and helped in every good cause that came his way. He died in 1951.
Mrs. Holmes lives on the home place just north of Ralls. J. Wiley Holmes, a son, lives at Monahans; Dr. T.H.Holmes, another son, is a business partner with Dr. L.W. Spikes at Spikes Clinic, Ralls.
A daugher, Elizabeth is now in Texas Technological College at Lubbock.

Final rites for T. H. Holmes, 62, who died Tuesday morning at Spikes clinic in Ralls, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Ralls Baptist church, with Rev. J. S. Abernethy officiating. Burial was in Ralls cemetery.
Mr. Holmes had been a Crosby county resident for 37 years, and had farmed for the past few years. He formerly taught school, served as a county commissioner, and was a leader in farm improvement work.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, J. Wylie of Monahans and T.H. Holmes, of Ralls; a daughter Elizabeth, Texas Tech student, two brothers and a sister.

RALLS (Special) Services for Bettie Holmes, 95, of Ralls will be held 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd Haddock, of Hobbs, NM, and John Goss, officiating.
Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
She died at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born in Bell County. She married Theo H. Holmes in 1910 in Rogers. He died January 17, 1951. She was a member of the Ralls Garden Club and Order of the Eastern Star. She moved to Ralls in 1918 from Yoakum County. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, J. Wylie of Temple and T.H. of Lubbock; a daughter, Elizabeth Morrison of Lewisville; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.
