Graveside services for Odell Herring, 66, of Hobbs, NM, were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 1989 in the Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Cain, a Lubbock pastor, officiating.

Burial was under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.

Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church at Hobbs with the Rev. Billy Barber, pastor, officiating.

Herring died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 1989 in St. Mary´s Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Jones County and moved to Hobbs in 1963 from Lubbock. He married Joy Tarleton Sept. 4, 1948, in Ralls. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hobbs and of the New Mexico Rotan Association. He managed Furniture Land Inc. in Hobbs for 25 years.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Stein of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Paula Boggs of Albuquerque, NM; his mother, Mrs. T.G. (Radie) Herring Sr. of Lubbock; two brothers, T.G.Herring and William R. Herring, both of Lubbock; four sisters, Laverne Pingel of Arlington, Loree Jacobson of Houston, Clara Nell Proctor of San Antonio and Mary Edgerton.
