Obituary

William C. Henry, 69, resident of Ralls since 1921, passed away at his home here at 12:20 a.m. Tuesday (Dec 13, 1948). He had been in poor health for some time, but had not been confined to his bed.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry and son, W.C., Jr., had returned home four hours before Henry´s death from Hot Springs, N.M., where they had visited relatives since Friday. Enroute home, Dr. W. C. Snow of Roswell administered to Henry and advised him to return home as soon as possible.

Funeral services were held at 2 o´clock Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist church, with Rev. James Abernethy, pastor, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. F.M. Wiley of Spade, a former pastor of the deceased, and Rev. G.C. Laney of Olney, a brother-in-law of Mrs. Henry.

The choir, led by Arlois Coward, sang, "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be" and "Asleep in Jesus". "Sometime I´ll Understand" was sung by T. S. Parks, Jr. , and "No Dissapointment in Heaven", by Mrs. Earl Tinnin, Mrs. Bill Wicks, Arlois Coward and Joe Jackson. Mrs. Abernethy furnished piano music.

Ralls business houses were closed from 1:45 to 4 p.m. for the services.

William Chapel Henry was born in Kentucky, Apr. 3, 1879, moving to Hill County, (TX), at the age of 2. He was married to Miss Minnie Turner at Hillsboro, Aug 11, 1901. They moved to Crosby County in 1921 and lived near Cone until moving to town two years ago.

Henry was a Mason, a member of the Baptist church 40 years, a deacon in the church most of the time and a school trustee here many years.

Two children preceded him in death, Bowie (Buie) Henry of Ralls in 1934 and Mrs. Ona Robinson in Breckenridge in Nov., 1946.

Survivors include the wife, three sons, Jack, Ellis and W.C. Henry, Jr. , all of Ralls; five daughters, Mrs. Ottie Lee of Clovis, N.M., Mrs. Gladys Howard of Hot Springs, N.M., Mrs. Zonell Myers of Phillips, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Ralls, and Mrs. Weldon (Iris Maxine) Thornton of Breckenridge; three brothers, John Henry of Lamesa, R.A. Henry of Waco, and Jim Henry of Skelleytown; 18 grandchildren and four great grand children.

Pallbearers were: W. H. Anstead, T.H. Holmes, C.O. Southward, R.R. Reed, Jack Robertson, Edmund Crump, T.S. Parks, Jr., Morris Wideman, T.J. Defee, and W. L. Smith.

Burial was in Ralls cemetery with Marr funeral home directing.

Minnie Turner Henry RALLS (Special) - Services for Mrs. Minnie A. Henry, 94, of Ralls are scheduled for 4 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church here with the Rev. Floyd Maddock, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Larry Stallings of Mangum, Okla.

Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mrs. Henry died at the Ralls Nursing Home Saturday after a lengthy illness.

A native of Hill County, Mrs. Henry moved to Ralls in 1921. She was married to William C. Henry Aug. 11, 1901, in Hill County. Her husband died Dec. 13, 1948. Mrs. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include three sons, Jack of Lubbock, Ellis of Cleveland, Tenn.., and Dub of Morton; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Howard of Crosbyton, Mrs. Zonelle Myers of Borger, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Ralls and Mrs. Maxine Thornton of Graham; 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
