In Remembrance of

Little Ann Henry
(died 18 April 1937)
Rose Spray

On last Sunday morning, the spirit of little Ann, the thirteen month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ellis (Mamie Joe Parks) Henry, took it´s departure from this world. The funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church at two-thirty Monday afternoon. Rev. Bill Flores in charge. He was assisted by Rev. F. M. Wiley of Petersburg and the pastor.

Ann was the only child of Mr. And Mrs. Henry and will of course be missed so much the more, but our loss is heaven´s gain. Jesus loves little children. On one occasion He said, "Suffer the little children to come unto me; forbid them not; for to such belongeth the kingdom of God." God´s word teaches us that heaven is a home. Heaven is an ideal home; therefore, there are children there, and little Ann has gone to join the innumerable host of little ones who help to make heaven the ideal home.

To the sorrowing loved ones, we would say in the language of the poet:

"She is not dead, but sleepeth,
The Master of men once said,
      Such words stirred the people,
For they all believed her dead."

"O Master of men and of ages,
Is death nought but a sleep?
      Such a thought is priceless
Buried in the heart so deep."

"O glorious hope of the future,
         Our dead are merely asleep!
We´ll not spend days in sorrow
Why should a Christian weep? "

      "Sleep is followed by awaking;
Dawns a new day for the soul.
God, Heaven, and a new service,
         While aeons of eternity roll."

"Move on O soul so victorious!
         Thy spiritual heritage keep!
Hear these words of the Master:
        ´She is not dead, but asleep,´ "
