ABERNATHY (Special) Memorial services for Charles L. Helton, 84, of Wolfforth and formerly of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Abernathy with the Rev. Steve Campbell, pastor, officiating.
Burial in Ralls Cemetery will be directed by Abell Funeral Home. Helton´s body was cremated.
He died Saturday morning in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Sparks, Okla., and married Gladys Fuller on Dec. 25, 1926, in Salado. He moved to Abernathy in 1975 from Salado. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. A son, Lannie, died June 24, 1990.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Helton of San Jose, Calif.; two daughters, Dorothy Roach of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Franke Bardwell of New Deal; a sister, Lorene Lanford of Fresno, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.

ABERNATHY (Special) - Graveside services for Julia Gladys Helton, 88, of Abernathy will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ralls Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Winn, pastor of New Deal First Baptist Church, officiating.Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Abell Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, April 17, 1996, at Lubbock Health Care Center.
She was born Jan.a 19, 1908, in Holland. She married Charles Helton on Dec. 25, 1926, in Salado. He died June 6, 1992. They moved to Abernathy from Salado in 1975. She was a member of Abernathy First United Methodist Church. A son, Lannie Helton, died June 24, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Jerry of Carson City, Nev.; two daughters, Dorothy Roach of Colorado Springs and Frankie Bardwell of New Deal; two brothers, Wilburn Fuller of Amarillo and Ray Fuller of Salado; three sisters, Frances Daniel of Amarillo, Irene Warrick of Garland and Edith Marrs of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.
