Rosary for Antonio B. Flores, 79, of Ralls will be at St. John Neumann's Church at 7:00 PM on Thursday. Mass of resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2007 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls with Monsignor Harry Waldo from St. Mary's Church in Amarillo officiating. Burial will follow in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. Sons will serve as pallbearers.
Antonio passed away at 10:30 a.m. on June 5, 2007 at Plainview Health Care Center. He was born October 25, 1927 in Lockhart, Texas to the late Santiago and Sophia (Briceno) Flores. He is preceded in death by two children, Alexander and Virginia. On July 23, 1950, he married Julia Rodriguez in Lockhart. They moved to Ralls in January 1952. As a young man, he was a member of The Blue Moon's band for 5 years. He sang and played base fiddle. He was a farmer until 1986. He also was a truck driver for Owens Gin for 20 years. He was a member of the Legion of Mary. He was a cursillista and a rollista. He was the original leader of the family band Mariachi Flores which started as a family church choir. He became a deacon in February 14, 1981 and served at St. Michael's Church until he became ill 3 years ago.
Survivors include: his wife; Julia of Ralls, six sons: Tony, Joe Luis and Adam all of Lubbock, George of Sachse, Paul of Garland and Carlos of Idalou, twelve daughters: Dora Rendon, Alice Mata both of Lubbock, Loretta Graham, Josie Tejada and Veronica Muhlenkamp all of Garland, Martha Fountain of Plano, Diana Garlock of Pottsboro, Mary Ester Flores and Eva Grikis both of Austin, Susie Taylor of Coppell, Mercedes Flores of Dallas and Isabel Castillo of Ralls, 5 brothers: Miguel Flores of Colorado, Luis and Manual Flores both of Idalou, Henry Flores of Austin, John Flores of Holland, Michigan, 5 sisters: Chavela Torres of Racine, Wisconsin, Gregoria Hernandez of Austin, Beatrice Rios of Crystal City, Frances Flores of Creedmore, Texas, Santos Castillo of Finville, Michigan, 46 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to: The Alzheimer's Association or Area Community Hospice in Plainview.
