Carlos Cantu Services for Carlos Cantu Sr., 79, of Ralls were at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at Ralls First Baptist Church with A. Inez Aleman officiating and the Rev. Alonzo Garcia assisting.

Prayer service was at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at Iglesia Bautista in Ralls.

Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

He died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2001, at his home in Ralls.

He was born June, 5, 1922, in Woodsboro, TX.

He married Maria Longoria on Aug. 17, 1942, in Corpus Christi.

He was a member of Iglesia Bautista in Ralls, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He attended seminary class at Wayland Baptist University, Lubbock campus, and did mission work in Mexico and was a lay preacher. He moved to Ralls in 1964 and was a blacksmith.

He was preceded in death by three sons, Rolando, Ernesto and Lionel, and one daughter, Noelia Delello.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carlos of Hawaii and Ruben of Lubbock; five daughters, Dora Mercado of Ralls, Lucia Felan of San Angelo, Yolanda Rodriquez, Diana Britto and Gloria Moya, all of Lubbock; two sisters, Virginia Arriola of Corpus Christi and Sara Garcia of Edinburg; 25 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
