Services for David L. Benton, Jr., 77, of Lubbock were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2001, at Parkway Drive Church of Christ in Lubbock with Gerald Jackson officiating and David Fultz assisting.Burial was in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
He died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at his Lubbock home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Ralls. He married Elenore McGorray on Apr. 7, 1946, in Fresno, CA.
He was a member of the Parkway Drive Church of Christ. He owned Industrial Electronics and was part owner of Advanced Electronics and College TV. He moved to Lubbock in 1952 from San Francisco, CA, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Ed Benton.
He is survived by his wife, Elenore Benton of Lubbock; one son, David Benton of Milton, FL; four daughters, Marilyn McDonald of Andrews, Barbara Morrison of Minooka, IL; Darlene Bewley of Lubbock; and Marlene Coleman of Georgetown, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.

ANDREWS-Elenore Mae Benton, 90, of Andrews passed away on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, in Andrews. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Leslie Boon minister of Andrews Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Ralls Cemetery at Ralls, Texas, Thursday, at 3 p.m. under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Elenore was born on Aug. 13, 1926, in Visalia, CA, to Homer and Mary Leeper McGorray. She married David L. Benton, Jr. on April 7, 1946, in Fresno, CA. She moved to Lubbock in 1952 and lived there until 2009 when she moved to Andrews. She was a member of Parkway Drive Church of Christ in Lubbock where she was very active with the Classic Group. She loved sewing for her family and making clothing for them.
Elenore was preceded in death by her husband, David on Aug. 12, 2001; and two daughters, Barbara Morrison and Darlene Bewley.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn McDonald of Andrews, Marlene and husband, Jim Outlaw of Bastrop, Texas; one son, David L. and wife, Dottie Benton of Valparaiso, FL; one brother, Jim McGorray and wife, Judy of Windsor, CA; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
