Services for Marvin Beck, 86, of Lubbock were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23 1997, in Ford chapel of the First Baptist church in Lubbock with the Rev. John Ballard, pastor, and the Rev. Mark Lewis, pastor of Dunn Street Baptist church in Odessa, officiating.

Burial was in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Mr. Beck died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 20, 1997, in Lubbock´s Methodist Hospital following an illness.

He was born Oct. 9, 1910, in Pilot Point, TX, and married Mary Lee Jones on Nov. 11, 1928, in Ralls.

He was a farmer. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock. He moved to the Ralls area Feb. 15, 1921 from Denton County, TX.

He is preceded in death by a son, Donald Lee Beck, who died Dec. 3, 1972, and by a daughter, Ola Fayrene Beck Taylor who died March 23, 1997. Also preceding him in death were a brother, J.P. Beck, a sister, Willie Mae Beck, and two grandchildren, Mary Ellen Beck and Greg Russell Taylor.

 Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Beck of Lubbock; three sisters, Nola B. Lyles of San Angelo, Vivian Houchin of Lubbock and Emma Lee Norwood of Brownwood; four grandchildren, Wilma Lewis, John Alan Taylor, Janine Lewis and Jeffifer Lee Beck; eight great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
