Services for Bernie Lee (B.L.) Anderson, Jr., 76, of Ralls will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005 at the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls with Tim Mills officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ralls Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. B. L. passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005 at the Ralls Nursing Home with his family by his side.
He was born July 18, 1929 in the Wake Community of Crosby County to Bernie Lee, Sr. and Ada M. (Ellison) Anderson. On Feb. 18, 1949 he married Billie Benton in Ralls. B. L. graduated from Ralls High School in 1946 where he was elected president of his senior class and was active in sports including football, basketball, track and tennis. He then attended Texas Tech University.
He was a member of the Ralls Jaycees where he served as president of the organization in 1956 and the Ralls Lions Club. He farmed in the Ralls area for many years and owned and operated Anderson Real Estate and Insurance Company. He lived in Crosby County most of his life.
He is preceded in death by a son, Brent Lane Anderson who passed away on July 30, 1989.
Survivors include his wife Billie of Ralls; a son and his wife Kent and Lupe Anderson of Abilene; a brother, Ronald Keith Anderson and his wife Eddie John "E. J." of Montgomery; a sister, Gail Allsup and her husband Bob of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Valerie, Leah and Kellie; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home in Ralls.
The family suggests memorials to the Ralls Cemetery Association 808 Ave I Ralls, Texas, 79357, the Ralls Library 813 Main Ralls, Texas 79357 or a favorite charity.
