LORENZO (Special) - Services for O. E. Lightner, 83, of Lorenzo will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lorenzo Baptist Church with the Rev. Ricky Foster, a nephew, and the Rev. Tom Woodward, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Crosbyton, officiating.

Burial will be in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

He died Saturday, Oct. 12, 1996, at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born May 14, 1913, in Sunset. He married Jesse Lou Davidson on Jan. 5, 1935, in Gould, Okla. She died April 27, 1994. He was a lifelong resident of Lorenzo and the Crosby County area, and he was a member of the Methodist Church.

He was a farmer and the originator of the commercial pumpkin-growing operations of the South Plains.

Survivors include a son, Orville of Lubbock; three daughters, Shirley Simpson of Denver City, Melanie Reid of Lorenzo and Bonnie Griffin of Crosbyton; three sisters, Mary Foster, Oma Lee McGlaun and Billie Seay, all of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
