Services for Bertha Kirksey, 96, of Lorenzo were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lorenzo's First United Methodist Church. Officiating was the Reverend Eugene Crane, pastor. Burial followed in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls. She died at 6 p.m. Thursday in Ralls Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.Mrs. Kirksey was a lifelong resident of Crosby County. She was born September 25, 1892 near Old Emma. She married Matt Kirksey on April 21, 1912 in Lorenzo. He preceded her in death on December 15, 1961.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Mildred Sechrist and Ruby Griffin, both of Lorenzo; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
