Funeral services for Mary Hope Miller Herrington, 89, of Whitehouse, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Miller officiating. Mary went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on May 21, 2012. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2012 in Lorenzo City Cemetery.
Mary Hope was born January 17, 1923 in Calvin, OK to George L. and Mabel M. Miller. Mary attended East Central University in Ada for two years. During World War II she served her country as an aircraft Inspector at McDonald Douglas Air Craft Plant in Oklahoma City. After the war she became a beautician, and later a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her husband Byron "Bill" Herrington, and four brothers; George Earl Miller, Ray B. Miller, Paul J. Miller of Oklahoma and Roy F. Miller of Washington.
She is survived by her children; Marilyn Grounds and husband Larry of Whitehouse, J. Byron Herrington of Albuquerque, NM, and Douglas E. Herrington and wife Joanne of Houston; four grandchildren, Cynthia N. Emerine of Frankston, Dixie A. Diamond of Bullard, Joshua W. Grounds of Whitehouse, James B. Herrington of Houston; three great-grandchildren, Jade Ginn, Clayton Nutt, Isaac Angulo and Gage Diamond, and Elizabeth Grounds; two great-great-grandchildren, Gracey and Paul Ginn.
Pallbearers are Brian Emerine, Joshua Diamond, Heath Ginn, Joshua Grounds, Clayton Nutt, and James Herrington.
Mary's love of reading and learning lead her to graduate from East Central University in Ada, Ok with a BA in Social Work in 1981, and her creative talents as seamstress and other crafts have left loved ones with many fond memories and mementos.
